Proof of identification is required.  You may fill out the application online, but you must show ID at the Circulation desk in order to receive your library card.  To get a library card, you must have a permanent address in Norway.

How long may I borrow materials?

When you have your library card, you can borrow books, e-books, audiobooks, music CD or magazines for up to 4 weeks at a time. We also have a collection of DVDs, and these can be borrowed for up to 2 weeks at a time. If no one else has requested the material you have borrowed, you can renew it up to 3 times.

Are you New in Norway?

Are you new to Norway and would like to learn Norwegian?

We also have a "New in Norway" section, that is located on the second floor. The section contains language courses, dictionaries and books about Norwegian society. We also have books that are adapted for easier reading. We subscribe to the weekly newspaper “Klar Tale” – so you can catch up on Norwegian news in an easy format.

Interrested in Genealogy?

In the basement we have our archive, with among other things old copies of the local newspaper, Eidsvoll blad, some on paper, and other on microfilm.

Take a look at this list, for tips about how to do genealogy in Norway.

You can also look at the The Norwegian-American Historical Association, a private organization that works towards helping individuals with, among other things, genealogy.

Due to a fire in 1883, Eidsvoll is missing a number of important records.
